Summary: If you have Athlon/Duron and do not see this:
# cat /proc/cpuinfo
    cpu family      : 6
    model           : 6
    stepping        : 2
then you need to pass mem=nopentium to the 2.4.x kernel at boot time
# ed /etc/lilo.conf
append="mem=nopentium"

Caveats

• Red Hat Linux - 7.2: mail flood every 5 minutes with firewall configured

If you replace /var/www/html, be forwarned that /etc/crontab has an entry that requires /var/www/html/mrtg
Subject: Cron <root@...> /usr/bin/mrtg /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg
[ERROR: CFG Error in "workdir", line 0: Working directory /var/www/html/mrtg does not exist]
# ed /etc/crrontab
    #0-59/5 * * * * root /usr/bin/mrtg /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg
# /etc/init.d/cron restart
